You Never Know What’s Going to Happen

If you know me, then you know I love March Madness. These young college athletes give it their all every game, and leave everything they have on the court everyday. The energy, the excitement, the love of the game. You never know what’s going to happen at any moment- and that’s part of what makes it all so thrilling.

Isn’t that just like being a mom? You never know what’s going to happen! Ok… I admit…maybe it doesn’t always feel that way. Latch issues, sleep schedules, potty training and tantrums are hard to see as a thrilling adventure sometimes. But, just embracing the madness of motherhood can make us realize how exciting, how fun, how joyful life with little ones can be.

This past week, after returning home from a business trip, I was so exhausted all I could think about all the way home was heading straight for bed. Instead, that night, my son was up all night with a cough, and I in turn, was up all night with him. The next day, he had to stay home from school. And, we ended up snuggled on the couch watching Daniel Tiger and eating cookies. It was a much needed break for both of us. And I realized right then and there, that this was a moment to treasure – even with the chaos of life happening all around me.

Moms, I know you can relate.  There will be a moment in your week of total and utter chaos, no doubt. That’s just life with little ones! And then right in the midst the madness you can see that yes, it can be crazy, and exhausting, and unpredictable; but ultimately it’s so, so worth it.

Go Mom!
