The Simplest Tradition Is Also My Favorite
I have to admit, I started the season in kind of a ‘bahumbug’ mood.
The holidays are supposed to be a time filled with love, joy, and family. A time to enjoy special traditions that draw us closer to those we love most, especially our kids. And, our hearts and homes should be places of warmth and peace.
Instead, I don’t know about you, but I sometimes find myself overwhelmed by all I have to do, trying to fit in too many items on my holiday to-do list. It wears me out, and it robs me of the JOY this season is supposed to about.
But, the other night, the girls asked if we could bake cookies. It was quiet and dim in our house, the lights from our tree were reflecting off the windows, and it happened to be a moment where I could say yes to them.
I’m SO glad I did. We had so much fun! We pulled out all our baking supplies and got cooking. And, It didn’t take long for me to get in the holiday spirit. Their faces lit up as we poured in all the ingredients, they giggled as they stirred and mixed, and savored taking turns licking the spoon. It was simple. It was fun.
And, it was so, so good.
I LOVE cookies. Baking is one of my favorite things about the season, especially with my kids. But, believe me, I know when you’ve got a baby in your life it’s not always the easiest or most practical thing to do to bake from scratch! That’s why I’m so excited to share my new recipe book with you, just in time for the holidays. Each recipe starts with one of my classic mixes– so, you can skip the extra time, but not the joy of fresh-baked cookies in your home. It’s my gift to you! My hope is that you will have as much fun as I did baking your favorite recipes again and again, and trying some new things along the way, too.
Happy Holidays From My Family to Yours,
