One of the things that I love about customer service calls is listening to the moms tell their stories.  They are real moms, with real stories.  I wish that every mom out there could hear them first hand like I get to.  Hearing the emotion in their voices when they talk about their decision to breastfeed and the challenges they have had to overcome and finally the feeling of empowerment and triumph that comes with their success.  It is truly inspirational.  I want to share the story that I was told this morning as I find it inspirational to all of the moms out there that are facing similar obstacles.
The mom I spoke with this morning had challenges from the very beginning.  Her baby was eating every 2 hours but getting little or no milk.  This mom was determined to breastfeed because she felt it was best for her baby.  She sought help and met with 3 different lactation consultants, multiple doctors, La Leche League leaders and was taking every supplement from fenugreek to blessed thistle without any increase in her supply.  The stress was almost unbearable.  She was about to begin Reglan (which can have numerous side affects) when she read about milkmakers in American Baby magazine.  She decided to give them a try.
She went on to tell me how milkmakers solved her milk supply issues and her baby is getting plenty of milk now.  Hooray!  She sticks to her schedule of eating 1-2 every day and finds the subscription an easy way to make sure she doesn’t run out.  I commented on her dedication and how impressed I was that she stuck with it even when a professional told her they wouldn’t blame her for giving up.  Her reply was simply, “Doing this for my baby was an easy choice.”
Her baby girl is now 6 months old and thriving!
