I thought that having friends and a set meeting time would help motivate me. As a result, I organized a walk event on Facebook.

Amanda organized a walk event on Facebook so that she had a set meeting time to exercise. After my son was born, I found getting out and moving was a little more difficult than I had expected. I thought that having friends and a set meeting time would help motivate me.

As a result, I organized a walk event on Facebook. I met up with several other moms and we walked for a mile. It was a fantastic! My son and I got out and met new people while exercising.

The biggest bonus was realizing that the walk gave all of the moms who were going through similar experiences the chance to share with one another.

My son loved being outside, and I loved the company. So what started as a one-time event turned into a twice-weekly walking group. We walk about 2 miles around the beautiful historic area of Colonial Williamsburg, or about 3 miles on a nature trail in our area. Some days we’ve had up to a dozen moms walking and it’s quite the sight when we have so many strollers and babies in carriers; we get lots of attention from passers-by.

These walks have become a great way to get active again and stay active.
