Emily, Founder of milkmakers

Just another day at the office!

So where did the idea of milkmakers come from? It’s simple, really. I returned to work after my first daughter was born and realized that I needed help keeping up my milk supply. I come from a long line of bakers so with my milk supply low, I began experimenting with different lactation cookie recipes in order to come up with one of my own that tasted delicious. The combination of oats, brewer’s yeast and flax seed helped with my milk production, making it easier to pump at work during the day and breastfeed when I got home.

I know from experience how hard it is to juggle work, kids and everything else that life throws at you. I wanted to share my new lactation cookies with other moms, giving them a simple, easy way to gain the nutrition they need for breastfeeding, as well as a delicious, healthy treat that they can share with their families.

milkmakers helps connect me with a community of women making the incredible transition to motherhood. My hope is that milkmakers can make that transition a little easier. I am a longtime supporter of new parents, working with non-profit groups to provide families with essential services. I served on the board of the Community Birth and Family Center, a birth and education center for new parents, and currently sit on the board of Open Arms Perinatal Services, whose mission is to provide services that support, educate, respect, honor, and empower women and their families throughout the childbearing years.

I would love to hear what you think about milkmakers, so please send me an email with your thoughts and/or suggestions to .
